Project approved
As part of the DFG priority program "Data-driven process modeling in forming technology", the project "Data-supported determination and prognosis of the active surface condition and intervention in strip extrusion processes" was approved by the German Research Foundation. Within the project duration of 36 months, in cooperation with the chair for automation and information systems of the Technical University of Munich, a basic understanding of wear mechanisms in industry-related extrusion processes from the strip is to be developed. The aim is to identify tool wear at an early stage using the process data, to counteract the progression by adjusting the process parameters and in this way to minimize the production of defective parts. The cause-effect relationships required for this are developed on the basis of data-driven correlation and causal models supported by expert knowledge.
