Precision in miniature scale: Approval of a research project for the production of micro gears

In microforming technology, even the smallest components are of great importance. Therefore, in the second phase of our DFG project "Basic research and determination of process limitations in bulk forming processes of micro gears from sheet metal", our innovative process chain for the production of micro-gears is being further developed. Our focus is on researching the effects and interactions between the different process steps. The aim is the targeted adjustment of the mechanical and geometric properties of the micro gears. Subsequently, the application behaviour of the extruded micro gears is tested on the gear test rig to evaluate the influence of the gear properties in real operation.
