New Open Access Publication
At the IDDRG Conference 2025 in Lisbon, David Naumann's paper, "Tensile testing of sheet metals at elevated temperatures with optical strain rate control," and Henrik Zieroth's paper were both recognized as among the top ten. All top-ten papers were given the opportunity to publish an expanded version of their conference paper in the journal "Advances in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering." This expanded version, titled "Beyond necking – Novel characterization method to investigate the tensile response of sheet metals at elevated temperatures and constant true strain rates," is now available as an open access publication. This paper presents a novel approach to conducting tensile tests at room temperature and elevated temperatures under constant true strain rates. For this purpose, a local optical strain rate control using a 3D-DIC system is applied, enabling in-situ strain measurement. The overarching goal is to improve the mechanical characterization in order to further enhance material data for numerical process simulations and increase predictive accuracy.
