New Open Access Publication
Another journal publication was published at the Institute of Manufacturing Technology in the international journal Production Engineering. The work was created in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich and addresses current challenges in dealing with extensive data sets from sheet metal forming.
The article presents a concept for the structured management of experimental process data, which is based on the self-describing file format HDF5. The aim is to organize measurement data from forming systems together with experimental boundary conditions and sensor specifications in a uniform data structure. This allows large and heterogeneous data sets to be efficiently stored, clearly linked and automatically evaluated. Using the example of a reverse extrusion process from the assembly line, it is shown how a hierarchical data structure can improve the integrity of the data sets and significantly reduce the manual effort involved in data analysis.
