The demand for lightweight yet high-performance gears is growing, not least due to the need for sustainable production. Sheet-bulk metal forming (SBMF) offers a promising approach, providing the potential to manufacture resource-efficient lightweight components with intricate structures.

Our current publication focuses on the numerical analysis of the production of helical lightweight gears using SBMF. In particular, we analyze the tool loads and component output – key factors for the industrial feasibility of this manufacturing process. The results provide a fundamental understanding of the process and form the basis for future optimizations and experimental investigations.
